Edit: I have been addicted to YouTube since I was 9 years old. I got my tablet at that age, it was gifted to me by my grandma. At first I only played child games like My Little Pony but then I started opening social media unrestricted. This was huge for me as a kid, I discovered many games like Minecraft through yt but I can now say it has also significantly impacted me as a human being, being poorly socialized and growing up with few friends and always feeling isolated. Definitely not good for a child. I am a young adult now with a job and self awareness, I am ready to change. I discovered this movement 2-3 years ago and that truly changed my view on phones and technology in general. I have since been disgusted with myself and my lack of self-control, and since I can't control myself I have to force the change with a device that doesn't allow me to use the app I crave the most After reading basically every review and watching videos talking and comparing this to the Side Phone and other models, I chose to preorder this one. I am very excited because I got into digital minimalism and dumbphones years ago, as I have tried and tried to dumb-ify my modern smartphone, to no success. I always ended up removing the blocks one way or another. The only social media I use is YouTube but it has really been an issue for me, I can't stop watching videos. I can spend the entire day watching YouTube and not realise it. I don't even watch short form content, I watch long form content but it's still a problem as I could spend my time doing useful things and pick up hobbies I have abandoned years ago. My main selling point for choosing this phone: • affordable price point (175€) (most modern smartphones are 200-300€++) • Whatsapp and maps (WhatsApp is absolutely essential it's our main messaging app) • NFC • built in app block • luminous keyboard • it's compatible with the bank we use in my country These are the essentials I need in my phone I don't care for spotify, I have an MP3 that works amazing and I don't have to pay a subscription I want my life back. See you back in December to see how it will hold to everyday usage !
